A few weeks ago, I decided to replace my old Galaxy Tab 2.0 10.1 with Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 8.0. Main reason was my G-Tab 2.0 is already lagging behind when it comes to the speed department. Also, I already find the 10.1″ a bit too large for me specially when I’m outside. I need a tablet which is much more portable and faster and I think the G-Note 8.0″ is the perfect choice. Why not choose an iPad Mini? Well, I’m the type of guy who wants to tinker with my gadgets with absolute freedom, unfortunately, only Android can give you this freedom and not iOS. Also, I’m already sick and tired of “SYNCING” via iTunes. I just want to transfer files like a regular computer where I can just drag and drop to the folder I want directly or via direct WIFI file transfer.

“Pair it with the paid version of Autodesk Sketchbook Pro and you have a perfect combo to unleash those inspirations and ideas playing inside your head.”

What sweetens the deal was the included stylus when you purchase a Galaxy Note 8.0. It basically uses Wacom’s pen technology and supports pressure sensitivity perfect for users who likes to illustrate. The pressure sensitivity is on par with Wacom’s standard drawing tablets like the Wacom Intuos. This is also one of the main reasons why I bought the Galaxy Note 8.0. I just love to draw whenever I feel like and what’s best is I can do it anywhere. Pair it with the paid version of Autodesk Sketchbook Pro and you have a perfect combo to unleash those inspirations and ideas playing inside your head.

I’m kinda lazy to basically review all the specs in-depth in this post so I just included the spec sheet fresh from Samsung’s official website. To summarise in my own words, the Galaxy Note 8.0 is a quad core beast, supports call and text, you can multi-task via the multi-window feature, has a much better display than the iPad Mini (Don’t worry, I own one and compared it myself), and my favorite, includes a super awesome pressure sensitive stylus for realistic writing and drawing. For more details, check the spec sheet below.
