I’ve been a hardcore fan of Razer’s hardware for years specially when it comes to gaming. Got this Razer Ouroboros early this year and I’ve been loving it so far. It has tons of customization options mostly geared towards ergonomics. The Ouroboros will fit a wide range of hand size since you can basically adjust the mouse’s overall dimensions. The mouse also fully supports the 3 main “grip” types in gaming (Palm, Claw, and Finger Tip) – a term usually used by pro gamers. In order for the Ouroboros to support these 3 different “grip” types, the “arc” on the mouse’s palm rest can be adjusted depending on the user’s personal preference.

The Ouroboros is also classified as an “Ambidextrous” mouse – meaning it supports both left and right handed users. It also comes with a high performance 8200dpi 4G laser sensor which I know most casual users won’t even care about since they just wanted a good looking mouse (like me) hehe – but I tell you, once you try and use the Ouroboros, the precision is really evident. I own other Razer mouse products (Naga and Mamba) and tested it myself specially in FPS games. The difference in tracking is really huge. Pair it with one of those Razer mats and you’ve got a killer combo.

One of the great things about owning a Razer product is when it comes to its packaging.

“It’s packed with some serious stuff inside and you also get an alien looking mouse which is just freaking awesome…”

I mean c’mon, just looks at how it’s all wrapped up. It’s like an expensive jewelry or something. Well, they should really make sure that the packaging is as good as their product since we are paying a premium price for it. The Ouroboros is a pricey little mouse and I got mine for roughly $160. It’s packed with some serious stuff inside and you also get an alien looking mouse which is just freaking awesome – so I guess it’s a worth it purchase at least for me :D

Forgot to mention that you can also remove the mouse’s side panels. It comes with 2 types of side panels out of the box. The “finger grip” panel and the “finger rest” panel. The one you are seeing below is the “finger rest” panel (the one on the left and right side of the mouse) which is the one attached by default. It’s a side panel that supports your thumb and pinky finger. This is my preferred side panel since it lessens the stress in my hands when gaming.

The other panel (which I forgot to take pictures of) is the “finger grip” panel. It’s actually similar to the one below but instead of a flat surface, is replaced by a “rubber grip” (like the ones on standard gaming mouse). It’s basically designed for users who wants to grip the mouse instead of just placing their hand on top of it. I usually interchange these panels from time to time since changing them is just a snap. They’re basically attached using magnets on the side of the mouse.

The Ouroboros also supports both wired and wireless setup.

“The mouse has a single AA rechargeable battery inside so you don’t have to worry about running out of batteries.”

If you’re going wireless, it comes with this cool looking “dock” which serves as the “receiver” and also as a “charging dock”. It’s attached via USB to your CPU. The mouse has a single AA rechargeable battery inside so you don’t have to worry about running out of batteries. The mouse will also “visually” let you know about your battery levels. You see those 3 green bars? That’s basically the battery indicator. Obviously, 3 bars means it’s fully charged while a blinking 1 bar means you’ll have to charge it. If you want it wired, you’ll just have to unplug the USB cable on the dock and attach it directly to the front of the mouse. Simple ;)

“…it would be great if we can also change the light color similar to Razer’s Mamba.”

Obviously, the mouse has lots of lights – GREEN lights. Though it would be great if we can also change the light color similar to Razer’s Mamba. The Razer logo? Nope, it doesn’t light up unfortunately. Why? Well,  it’s because that part is basically the sliding cover if you want to access the battery terminal. I know, I want it to light up myself also :(

And here’s how it looks like with my other Razer hardware. The Ouroboros is a PERFECT match if you happen to have the Black Widow Ultimate. My Razer Naga is still plugged in since I play MMORPG games from time to time. And just in case you notice that “knob with green lights” –  that’s basically the controls for my 7.1 Razer Tiamat headphones which you can check out here.

“So… should you buy this mouse? If you have the budget – absolutely!”

So… should you buy this mouse? If you have the budget – absolutely! I looks awesome, performs really well, and you can customize it to your own liking. But since it’s kinda pricey, you can try some alternatives like Mad Catz’s R.A.T. 7 gaming mouse which you can get for roughly $100. It also performs great and looks like it’s from another planet too!
