Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.)

Yay! At last! I finally managed to finish the entire photo shoot of Super Sonico that we will be taking a look in today’s figure review. It’s kinda hard to manage my work / clients and figure blogging at the same time making me always late in figure reviews T_T. OK, enough chit chat and let’s take a look at the very alluring Sonico Tokonatsu Version!

I’ve been a fan of Sonico since she was first unveiled by Nitro+ back in 2007. To those people who are not familiar with the character, the name Super Sonico was actually derived from the annual music festival held in Japan titled, Nitro Super Sonico Music Festival. Sonico was created to be the mascot of this music festival and since then, she became very popular particularly in Japan’s otaku subculture.

My very first figure of Sonico was Orchid Seed’s Super Sonico Valentine Version. I was really attracted by that figure when I first saw it online and It was also one of the best Sonico figures available that time. Because of that figure, my interest in Sonico as a character grew even more making me buy more Sonico figure renditions from different figure manufacturers.

I’m really picky when purchasing a Sonico figure. There are lots of Sonico figures released today but not all of them are great. Sonico is a great and beautiful character and I always make sure that I only get the best Sonico figure rendition available, like the one we are going to take a look in this figure review. Let’s get started!

The Super Sonico Tokonatsu Ver. figure was originally released late May 2012.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (35)

Figure was scaled at 1/6 which is great. Not too big, not too small.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (34)

It was manufactured by Wing which is somewhat an underrated figure manufacturer. In my opinion, Wing is getting better and better in creating good figures.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (33)

The figure stands at around 9.75in. The base is also reasonably sized so you can display her beside your other figures without any problems.

Wing’s rendition of Sonico ended up quite well. I was really not a fan of Wing at first but when I got this figure, I realized they also put a lot of attention when it comes to detail and overall figure quality in their products.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (31)

This is my first Wing created figure and so far I’m not disappointed.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (30)

Sonico is REALLY sexy in this figure. Although the style (particularly the face and her long hair) is a bit different compared to other Sonico figures, I still find her hot and attractive. She also has an optional replaceable “shy” face part. I still prefer her default face though.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (29)

Gotta love this shot!

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (28)

There’s nothing extraordinary when it comes to Sonico’s pose. It’s actually the usual sexy “tease” pose which always works even in other figures.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (27)

The “key” attraction of this figure is how she tries to take off her pantsu >_< It will somewhat make you say something like, “C’mon, just a bit more…” hahaha!

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (26)

The sexiness of Sonico is overflowing in this figure rendition.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (25)

And yes, we all know that Sonico has indeed a large “front” which I and you guys all like mwouahahaha!

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (24)

I’m not really sure but I’m liking Sonico’s long hair compared to her original shorter one.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (23)

How they sculpted Sonico’s body is top notch. I personally love this part. >_<

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (22)

Not really sure why other people doesn’t like Wing. This is my first Wing figure and I think the quality is somewhat on par with the likes of Orchid Seed or Alter.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (21)

Or maybe it’s because of the sculptor? I tend to notice that if the sculptor is good (like Mitsumasa Yoshizawa for example), the end product/figure is also good.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (20)

The somewhat falling denim shorts of Sonico adds up to the overall “teasing” effect of the figure.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (19)

I just noticed this right now and I really don’t want to say that “word” in this post. But yeah, her —– can be seen behind her undies which is of course, GREAT! hahaha!

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (18)

This happens to me all the time where I tend to overlook some minor details on the figure and then later discover those details when I review all of the photos I’ve taken. Btw, Sonico’s back side is just PERFECT!

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (17)

Did I say Sonico’s back side is PERFECT?

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (16)

Her body is so steamy…

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (15)

Overall paint job of the figure is also nicely done. I really love the color gradation of her skin tones. It accentuates her curves and overall body shape.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (14)

Base is textured like a beach sand. Nothing extraordinary here. It’s reasonably sized, pretty stable, and doesn’t eat too much display space.

Review | Wing: Super Sonico (Tokonatsu Ver.) (13)

Didn’t I mention that Sonico’s figure is cast-offable? Yes it is! Enjoy the remaining photos to end this figure review.

This is one great figure rendition of Sonico. I recommend it to those who are a fan of the character. If you’re not a fan of figure manufacturer Wing, you should give it a try, they’re not that bad at all. Because of this figure, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for new and upcoming figures from Wing. That’s all for now guys and I hope you enjoyed and loved the photos in this figure review.

If I’m not mistaken this is by Wing. I find the cast off a bit odd since her sleeves are still there. The figure still looks awesome. There’s an upcoming tanned version if you’re interested.

I was considering getting the Valentine Sonico which was the first figure of her 2 years ago. But I decided to pass it and got instead the Bondage Sonico (original black version).

@Bumbayker: Yep, it’s made by Wing. Yeah, you’re right. I actually forgot to mention that as a negative part of the figure because I also find it a bit weird when you decided to display Sonico without her shirt on. The tanned version of this figure is also nice. Really love those tan lines!

Even though Im a little obsessed with Sonico or maybe because of that, I don’t like every recently released Sonico figure, The Valentine version has such a pretty face, but I missed her unfortunately, I noticed her too late.

If Im not wrong this was (is) the first female figure from Wing .
She turned out a lot better than expected, awww look at body, she’s sexy. The body sculpting looks quite awesome. It’s quite teasing how she pulls down her slip :D

Her face also seems to be very cute, especially these eyes, only the mouth looks a bit odd from some lower angles. aside from that It’s still a very nice figure.

    • Otakumouse on Thu, 2012/10/25 at 11:13 PM

@Wieselhead: Yeah, she’s very sexy and lovely in this figure. The only negative aspect of this figure is when you decided to display it without her shirt. The sleeves and back part of the shirt is still attached to her body which is kinda weird.

Got something to say?
