So Yes, I’m back in doing figure reviews again! I’ve been very much occupied the past few weeks developing the version 2 of my site Otakumouse and the OtakuPro™ Framework that’s why I really haven’t gotten the chance to finish my long list of overdue figures lined up for review.
I also decided to “optimize” the way I do figure reviews. I’ll make it more concise and direct to the point to save time (since I’m a really super busy guy >_<). This way, I can make more figure reviews even inside my very busy schedule. I’ll still keep the review as detailed as possible to help our fellow figure collectors just in case they plan on purchasing the current figure in review.
Let’s get started!
Kurumu Kurono came from the popular ecchi manga, Rosario + Vampire which spawned 2 seasons as an ecchi harem anime series back in 2008. It was quite popular back then because of its sexy and somewhat funny and hilarious episodes. I personally love the series’ opening themes both performed by Nana Mizuki.
Kurumu Kurono’s role in the series was a bouncy and busty succubus in-charge of seducing the series’ main protagonist, Tsukune every episode. She has a very likable character in the series because of her sexy appearance and cheerful personality, plus her overly sized breast:p Her outfit in this figure was based on her appearance in the series’ 11th episode (Season 1).
Scale, Sculpt, and Details
As with other Orchid Seed figures, they sculpted Kurumu pretty nicely. Standing at 1/7th scale (9.56 in), Kurumu was sculpted with a seducing pose that is perfect for her character. She is wearing a sexy version of the standard maid outfit that is quite popular in standard animes. Her skirt is actually pretty short that you can actually see her nicely sculpted backside.
Her dark colored maid outfit accentuates the figure even more. That contrast makes her light blue hair and skin more pronounced when displayed. Kurumu is quite fleshy in this figure which is a good thing in my opinion. Her body was sculpted with more “meat” in it. This is pretty obvious when you look at her arms and thighs.
The only thing I really don’t want about this figure is how they designed the “laces” of Kurumu’s outfit. It was a pain to attach it to the figure because the “holes” for the laces were too small. Sometimes, I just don’t want to attach it at all. Of course, Kurumu is not Kurumu without her alluring set of nicely sculpted breast ><
The figure was well painted. There are no signs of paint bleeds or paint inconsistencies across the figure. Different tones were used to add “depth” to Kurumu’s outfit. Orchid Seed’s signature style when painting the skin was also applied. They added a subtle amount of “pink” to the overall skin tones making it look more “anime-ish” and natural at the same time.
The hair color was also painted with accuracy. Each strands has some kind of depth making the hair look like it has volume. The creases and ribbons on Kurumu’s outfit was also painted with great detail. You will think it is a real cloth at first glance. Overall, the figure has a very well done paint job.
Features and Extras
The figure was designed to be fully cast-offable. You can remove her whole outfit (except for her pantsu). Removing her outfit was very easy in comparison with other cast-offable figures that requires extensive amounts of work. I had a bunch of cast-offable figures in my collection but since they’re really difficult to disassemble, I just decided to don’t bother with it at all (I’m also afraid I might break it during the disassembling process).
To remove her outfit, you just have to detach her upper body by just pulling it slightly upward. Once the upper and lower body are separated, you can just pull the skirt out. Removing the part that covers her breast is also a walk in the park. Remove the laces first and just pull the part gently to remove it.
This is the display option of the figure where the overall paint job really shines.
Orchid Seed has done a terrific job in recreating Kurumu as a very nice and sexy figure. The overall sculpt, details, and paint job was top quality making it a worthy addition to your entire figure collection. The annoying “laces” is sometimes in the way but it’s still one of the best figure renditions of Kurumu to date and fans of the series will surely love this figure. I do hope they continue by creating the other female characters as well.
PS: I also have the oppai mousepad version of this figure!
