I’ve posted a review teaser a few days ago to give you a glimpse of our next figure review. Like what I’ve said on my teaser post, our future reviews will be a series of amazing Hot Toys figures! After a few busy days on my sched, I finally managed to wrap this up and I’m really excited to share this figure with you guys so hop on!

I got this figure a few months ago and I was really amazed on how the figure was made. As much as possible, whenever I receive a new figure in my mail, I always want to review them on the spot, but due to my very busy schedule, I really need to find some free time first in setting up this kind of figure shoot and review because they’re a bit time consuming to make.

Back to the figure. I got this figure for roughly $200 and I was really lucky since I was late in preordering this figure. I’m a bit hesitant at first when I saw the official prototype shots from the manufacturer, but Thor was the topic of town back then so It would be really cool if I can have the exact replica of the character.

The moment I got the figure and opened its box, I was really blown away by the details and the spot-on head sculpt of the actor, Chris Hemsworth. Thor’s outfit was also created with the exact detail as it was in the film. One of the things I really like with the figure is the Mjolnir hammer. It was made with real metal and the engravings on the hammer are so detailed. It’s like minifying the Mjolnir hammer in the film.

I know I’m boring you guys with this background history of the figure with me so let’s jump right in to the actual review. (And play the video while you’re checking this out!)

Review | Hot Toys: Thor (50)
The Thor figure is really well made. The details on his outfit is a spot on duplicate of the actual Thor character in the film.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (49)
The figure is in 1/6th scale and about 12 inches in height.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (48)
The figure is also well articulated. You can basically move most of his body parts to recreate those dynamic poses.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (47)
Figure proportion is accurately made similar to the actual build of the actor in the film.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (46)
Thor’s cape is made out of real cloth. It’s a dust magnet actually.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (45)
The details on his upper outfit is just outstanding. The reflective metallic plates on his torso is one of  the signature element of any Thor character aside from his Mjolnir hammer.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (44)
Figure comes with a lot of replacement and optional parts. It comes with a whole set of hand replacements that portrays a different mood for the character.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (43)
Thor’s helmet can also be removed and replaced by the standard Thor “hair” as seen in the film. I prefer the one with the helmet on though.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (42)
The Mjolnir hammer is actually made out of real metal. And its heavy.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (41)
There’s no assembly required when you purchase this figure aside from the replacement parts which will depend on your personal preference.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (40)
The helmet fits perfectly in the well made head sculpt though the helmet will limit the figure’s head movement.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (39)
Helmet contains some sort of a protective padding inside to avoid scratching the actual head sculpt of the figure.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (38)
To those who are curious, I’m using a 50mm F 1.4 lens in this figure. The lens works really great specially in figure photography.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (37)
His outfit is pretty flexible. You can still bend his torso up or down, left and right.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (36)
Thor’s pants is also made out of real cloth. You have to be careful though because his outfit somewhat limits his movements and going too far when it comes to posing the figure might ruin some parts of his outfit.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (35)
A quick peek at his Mjolnir hammer which we will talk about later.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (34)
Most of the elements of Thor’s outfit is highly reflective. I think I have some macro shots where I’m basically being reflected by the helmet.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (33)
Head sculpt of the figure was based on the actor of the film, Chris Hemsworth. I think HT did a pretty good job at sculpting the head.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (32)
Hot Toys really nailed the skin tone of the actual figure. It looks real at first glance.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (31)
Thor’s helmet is made out of high quality PVC I think. (It’s not metal unfortunately). It would be great if the material is also metal though.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (30)
The details on the helmet are also incredibly sculpted. Though I think they should have made it more reflective IMO like in the film.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (29)
The “scale” texture on the sleeves are also incredibly made. Though when I checked the film, I noticed that the “scales” are more reflective or chrome compared with the figure.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (28)
You can change the figure’s hands depending on your personal preference. There are 2 versions of his closed fist hands. One that is relaxed, and this one.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (27)
The handle of the Mjolnir hammer is also detailed with the visible handle wraps.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (26)
This is the part of the figure where I’m really amazed. The Mjolnir hammer.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (25)
The hammer is made out of real metal and the engravings on the hammer is the very same engravings seen on Mjolnir hammer in the film.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (24)
Aside from getting the exact replica of Thor, you also get the exact replica of the Mjolnir hammer, in minified version lols.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (23)
Arm bracers were also sculpted based on the film.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (22)
I really didn’t notice these shots where I’m being reflected by the metallic plates on his torso.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (21)
I was actually doing some macro shots here and I’m really close to the figure, maybe that’s why.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (20)
The cape is removable. There is a hidden slit in the figure’s back where you’ll slide in the cape in place.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (19)
Just look at the hands! :0
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (18)
It looks soooo REAL!
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (17)
Details on his leg armor are also well sculpted based on the armor details in the film.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (16)
His legs are well articulated too.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (15)
A closer look at the cape’s texture.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (14)
The cape is strategically stitched to get those nice wrinkle effects.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (13)
The standard name plate of any Hot Toys figures.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (12)
Other HT figures contains a “main base” or diorama base. Unfortunately, Thor only comes with the standard one.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (11)
Here’s another shot where I’m literally being reflected by the helmet. Didn’t notice this one in post processing -_- There’s a lot of detail in the figure’s eyes though I think the beard can be improved. It’s not really bad IMO.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (10)
The face is really well sculpted.
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (9)
Unfortunately, there are no replacement head sculpts in this figure. It would be great if they have a head sculpt which shows Thor’s rage!
Review | Hot Toys: Thor (8)
There is an option where you can display Thor without the helmet but I really don’t like the sculpt of the replacement hair and he looks more badass with the helmet on.

Here’s the rock where you can place the Mjolnir hammer.

The details and effects are amazing.

The Thor figure is the best of its kind. Heck, its even better than those premium format statues available thru Marvel and Sideshow Collectibles. The details are just unbelievable and you will really see the careful attention to detail of the artists who made this figure. The well articulated body of the figure also makes it very fun to display. And don’t forget the near perfect head sculpt and the minified metal replica of the Mjolnir hammer. All in all, this figure is worth the buck and is a great addition if you’re a fan of Thor, the film, or any Marvel superheroes.
