Yey! Figure Review time! Today we will be taking a look at Good Smile Company’s Deadmaster Animation Version, the second figure to be released after the original Black Rock Shooter Animation Version. So, what are we waiting for? Hop in!

Deadmaster was my second BRS figure to acquire  this year. She’s also the second figure to be released in Good Smile Company’s BRS “Animation Version” figure line. GSC already released BRS figure goodies before which is dubbed “Original Version” and to be honest, I really don’t like it. There is something on those figures that makes it look bland and non appealing.

Then GSC announced late last year  another series which really caught my attention. Still the same characters from the Black Rock Shooter anime, but this time, the figures looks much more dynamic and the overall presentation of the figure is just 100% work of art.

Let’s go and take a look at the magnificent figure rendition of Deadmaster by Good Smile Company.

Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (28)
Like the previous Black Rock Shooter Animation Version, this figure still preserves the universal “base” design which includes rubbles and swirling chains.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (27)
The figure has this very nicely sculpted scythe which is the signature weapon of Deadmaster. Figure looks awesome at every angle.

I really did have a hard time shooting this figure since I really don’t have any professional equipment that can help me improve my shots. You’ll notice that most of my shots are just captured on my desk with the Mark IV on the background lols.  Will start investing equipments soon.

The back of the figure is also really nice. You can really see the flow of her dress and the beautiful curvature of her body generated by her dynamic pose.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (24)
As you can see, the scythe is really LONG which basically eats a lot of display space since to full appreaciate the figure, you have to display her sideways.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (23)
I also love the color signature of the character which is green. Mixing it with the anime’s “Black” theme really makes the figure popup even more. Not glow in the dark though.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (22)
The overall sculpt of the face is spot on from BRS anime. GSC is really good at making figures accurate.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (21)
Overall sculpt of the body is also great. The flow of her dress is really organic and the creases and folds generated by her pose are really natural.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (20)
Deadmaster is not a figure under the “Sexy” category. But still, there’s a bit of sensuality present in this figure’s overall presentation.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (19)
Loving those green eyes. Again, doesn’t glow in the dark. Many of my friends thought that the green colors on the figures glow in the dark lols.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (18)
That’s how long the scythe is.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (17)
Demon-like hands, well, because she’s actually being possessed by a demon.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (16)
That ribbon on her dress really adds something nice in the figure’s presentation. Really don’t know what it is but its great for it to be there.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (15)
Beautifully sculpted horns.

The base which consists of the universal props present on other releases. The figure is much more easier to assemble compared to Black Rock Shooter.

And yeah, I really love those cute little wings on her back.

The figure is being supported by this single metal peg on its base. The weight distribution of the figure is great which makes it stable when displayed.

Overall paint job of the figure is just outstanding. I looked real carefully and i didn’t see any paint bleeds or paint transfers on any part of the figure.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (7)
Base has this slots where the props are going to be attached. These “slots” are perfectly cloaked on the base lols. Took me some time to discover the correct slots specially for the chains.
Review | GSC: Deadmaster (Animation Ver.) (6)
Chain are not made of metal. Still PVC. But because of the paint job, it looks like metal at first glance.

And some final shots to close this figure review…

This figure is a must have for Black Rock Shooter fans out there. The design direction of this figure is just as great as the previous release. I can’t wait to complete the whole series!

See you on our next figure review! \m/
