Yow! Its figure review time! It’s been roughly a month since I last did a figure review. I was super busy with work and I can’t find the time to do a figure shoot >.< Good thing I just finished my 3 day worth of work today (wee!). Hop in and lets take a look at Ritsu!

I already have Ritsu for quite some time now and all I can say is she’s one of the awesome figures in my entire collection. Place her beside her other band members and they will be the center of attraction (assuming you completed the whole K-ON! Alter set.)

Ritsu Tainaka is basically the drummer of the all-girl band from the hit anime K-ON! She plays a yellow Rick Marotta Signature Yamaha Hipgig drum kit paired with a cymbal set from Avedis Zildjian. She’s the acting president of their music club in the anime.

She’s the last figure to be released from Alter’s K-ON! series and she’s also the most expensive. Well, there’s actually a reason why this figure is so expensive compared to the other figures in the series. It’s the rendition of her drum set! Every details of the drum set was spot-on perfect, even the screws, and other parts of the drums are sculpted realistically.

The only drawback of this figure is its base. Its freakin huge! It will totally eat a lot of space in your display racks.

Enough talking and lets take a look at the figure. \m/

Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (33)
Meet Ritsu Tainaka and her freakin cool drums.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (32)
Ritsu is presented in a dynamic and energetic pose holding her drum sticks up in the air and somewhat signaling her other band members to get ready for their performance.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (31)
Her dynamic pose is natural and well balanced. It really shows the natural stance of a drummer.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (30)
She’s kinda wobbly in her chair so be careful not to bump her accidentally. There’s no sort of a snap on feature on the chair to make her more stable. She’s just basically resting on top of it.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (29)
The natural flow of her uniform is also realistically well sculpted.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (28)
Its a bit tricky to align the main figure to the drum set since both of them are really wobbly. If only they placed some sort of lock mechanism to the feet of the drums and Ritsu’s chair.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (27)
Alter’s strong points in figure manufacturing (imo) is on how they make every figure look really similar to the anime character or illustration reference they have in their offices. Not all figure manufacturers can do this.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (26)
Look at that energetic face. It’s really Ritsu Tainaka from the anime!
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (25)
They perfectly nailed it when it comes to Ritsu’s overall appearance in this figure.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (24)
And here’s where the figure really shines.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (23)
The detail of the drums are just AMAZING!
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (22)
Just look at those micro details on the bass drum.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (21)
Even the knobs are amazingly sculpted.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (20)
Crazy details…

The cymbals on the drum set deceived most of my friends. They thought its a real “minified” cymbal lols! And yeah, they all tapped it thinking that it will make a sound.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (17)
Ritsu’s hands naturally holding the drum stick.

Gotta love the hit hat!
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (14)
It doesn’t go up and down like the usual hit hat though.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (13)
This is the part where I was literally amazed with the figure. Its when i turn the snare drum upside down and saw this individually placed “snares” at the top of the clear head. Crazy!
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (12)
Focusing the clear head part of the snare drum. One of the best parts of the figure in my opinion. (I’m really particular with micro details.)
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (11)
Here’s the pedal for the hit hat. I know what you’re thinking but unfortunately, the pedal is just static. Its still great though because its components are perfectly sculpted.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (10)
And here’s the drum chair of Ritsu. Like what I’ve mentioned earlier, when you place ritsu on top of this chair, its pretty wobbly so be careful on handling this figure. Her price is no joke.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (9)
Dust are everywhere. forgot to clean these parts.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (8)
The detailed pedal for the bass drum. Again, the pedal is just static.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (7)
Clearly one of the best Ritsu figures out there.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (6)
The huge huge huge base where her name is displayed. The figure’s base is the biggest base I have in my entire collection.
Review | Alter: Ritsu Tainaka (5)
Some final shots to close this figure review.

Rock On!

This is clearly a must have figure for all K-ON! fans out there. Forget the other Ritsu releases from other manufacturers and just go for the Alter one. This version will rule them all!

Aside from the very huge base that basically eats 3 display spaces for your other figures (lols), this is still one of the best figure releases this year. Great sculpt, great paint work, crazy details, it’s worth every penny! I suggest that if you have the budget and you’re a big fan of the anime, don’t think and just BUY it! \m/

Whew, thanks for support guys! Stay tuned for our next figure review!

See ya!
