Razer Onza Tournament Edition

A few days ago, I decided to get the first ever Razer peripheral for the Xbox 360. The Razer Onza Tournament edition was Razer’s first in the world of gaming consoles. The controller was really precise and dead-on accurate specially for games like Battlefield 3.

The Razer Onza has 2 versions. The Standard edition for $40 and the Tournament Edition for $50 (I got mine for $55). I really suggest to get the Tournament Edition because all of the great features of the controller are implemented there. The $10 price difference is worth it for competitive gamers out there.

I’ll discuss the the great features of the Razer Onza Tournament Edition below.

One of the nice features of the Razer Onza Tournament Edition is its backlit buttons. Standard edition doesn't have this feature.

The Tournament Edition has a rubberized textured surface compared to the platicky surface of the Standard Edition. It feels really good in the hands.

The Razer Onza's overall form factor is really ergonomic. It fits really nicely in my hands and i can basically reach all the buttons easily. I also noticed that I can play much longer with this controller compared to the original bundled Xbox 360 controller.

This is one of my favorite parts of the Tournament Edition. Both the analog sticks have this rotating dial that basically adjusts the overall tension of the sticks. Its a very powerful feature and can really help you in precision aiming. You can basically increase the overall sensitivity of the sticks in the game, then adjust the anlog stick's tension to compensate. Tested it in games like Battlefield 3 and it works great! I'm sure the controller will also shine in upcoming FPS games like MW3.

All of the buttons on the controller have a really fast actuation (overall travel time of the buttons from press to release). I also love the tactile feedback of the buttons, it always leaves a "clicky" sound to indicate a button press.

At the back of the controller are 2 buttons which are used to re-map all of the controller buttons. Pretty nifty stuff! So say goodbye to the default button schemes of the games which doesn't work with you.

Razer Onza Tournament Edition (2)

The Razer Onza has 2 extra shoulder buttons which you can basically map for added flexibility. The Tournament Edition also has a 15 foot non-tangle braided cable compared to the standard cable in the Standar Edition controller.

The Razer Onza Tournament Edition for the Xbox 360 is a must have for FPS lovers out there. With its adjustable tension, rubberized grip, and backlit buttons, this is the controller that will give you the competitive edge in multiplayer online gaming specially for new games like Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3. The question is…. Where’s for the PS3?

Got something to say?
