I’m sure you all heard of NVIDIA SHIELD. If not, then check out this page to learn what it is and how it works. To cut the story short, NVIDIA SHIELD is basically a technology / gadget that let’s you play your PC games remotely (away from your PC) using the NVIDIA designed tablet called the “Shield Tablet”. This Shield Tablet runs on Android and basically, it works by streaming the game from your PC similar to Playstation 4’s Remote Play and Steam’s In-Home Streaming.
But did you know that you don’t have to buy the Shield Tablet in order for you to do this? Yep, you can use any existing Android tablet you have and stream your PC games there in full 60fps. I tested this on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Android tablet and it works flawlessly! I can even control Steam! And yes, you don’t even have to “root” your device. Don’t know what “root” means? It’s just a fancy term for “jailbreaking” your Android.
Below are some quick snaps of this in action. Pictures below shows me playing Final Fantasy 14 and controlling Steam using my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. Don’t worry, I’ll be posting a detailed tutorial on how to make it work in your own Android device on a separate post. Just wanna let you guys know that you don’t have to shell out cash for NVIDIA SHIELD in case you want this kind functionality. Happy Weekends!
