What Are You Doing Kotobukiya?

I don’t usually post every single figure news/releases here in my site. I filter them and only post the figures that I think looks great. We figure collectors know if a figure is of high quality or not, that’s how we buy. Today, I saw the official images of Kotobukiya’s upcoming figure, Asuka Kazama of Tekken and I’m really disappointed.

Kotobukiya is one of the great figure manufacturers around and we all know it based on their wide array of released figures in the past. But I’m just not sure if what they’re doing on Tekken’s Bishoujo line is right.

Below is the original illustration of the great Shunya Yamashita, Asuka looks beautiful and really cute in the illustration.

Below is the actual figure from Kotobukiya, I’m just not sure if she’s beautiful in my eyes…

Still, the figure has a good sculpt and paintjob, it’s the face that’s bothering me. If Kotobukiya can do it on Tony Taka’s illustrations (ie: Shining series figures that looks GREAT with a spot on resemblance from the original illustration), I’m sure they can also do the same with Shunya Yamashita’s works, right?

Figure slated for August 2011, ¥5,950.
