Review | Kotobukiya: Shikinami Asuka Langley

For our next figure review, we will take a look at Kotobukiya’s figure rendition of Shikinami Asuka Langley in her sexy test plug suit as seen on Evangelion 2.0 movie (elevator scene). She’s my 3rd Asuka figure and the 5th figure in my entire Eva collection.

The figure is 1/6 in scale and I tell you guys, she’s big, even with her kneeling pose. Other figure manufacturers like Alter also has their very own version of Asuka in her test plugsuit (which I already have btw. Figure review here.), but honestly, when I got Kotobukiya’s version, I can say that Its much better than Alter’s version. In Kotobukiya’s version, her face is more “Asuka-ish” similar to the anime. Also worth mentioning is how Kotobukiya made her test plug suit, Its sexier and even more revealing than other versions of the figure (which is a good thing -evil laugh-).

Evangelion 2.0

The movie scene where the figure was based on.

I love how Kotobukiya made Asuka’s test plug suit in this figure. It accentuates Asuka’s sexy curves and wonderful sculpt.

The figure was based on the elevator scene from the movie Evangelion 2.0 where asuka was fixing one of her long pigtails before boarding her eva unit.

Like what I’ve said on my previous figure reviews. I’m really a big fan of glossy figures, and this Asuka figure is no exception. Her paint job is absolutely great (with a bit of paint bleeds which are barely noticeable). The combination of those glossy red and orange paint really makes this figure pop in your collection.

I really can’t see any downside of the figure’s overall sculpt. The sculpt is really good. It really accentuates Asuka’s alluring and seductive curves.

Plug suit details are also fantastically well sculpted. Though on Alter’s version, the embossed details that runs on her plugsuit has some red borders on it.

Her pose is really seductive in this figure >.<

The only comment I have on this figure is the eyes. It’s a bit empty and plain. I dunno, maybe its just me being used to the lively eyes of my other figures.

A seperate mic accessory is also included on the figure. You have the option to display it with the figure if you want to.

Asuka is not really overly busty. Kotobukiya really sculpted her with body proportions exactly like on the anime.

There are some barely noticeable rough paint jobs on the figure like the details on the figure’s legs. Also, in this shot, you can clearly get a glimpse of the figure’s base which is actually made out of clear acrylic material with the NERV logo on it. I really love clear glass-like bases.

The hair part was also nicely painted with some great toning for added depth. It was actually made out of clear pvc material that was overlayed with paint. Hair color is nearly identical from Asuka’s hair color in the anime.

This is not a figure review without this kind of shots…lol.

Final shot to close this figure review.

I’ve been a big Asuka fan since the first Evangelion anime show and I will not stop getting new figures based on Asuka in the future. This figure is not perfect on every aspect but I’m definitely not disappointed with it. Its overall sculpt is really great and it really accentuates the sexy side of Asuka. Paint job is also great in this one with a few minor hiccups that are barely noticeable. The only down side of this figure for me is the eyes. Its just too plain for me.

Aside from some minor issues I’ve mentioned. This figure is a must have for Asuka fans out there.

Stay tuned for our next figure review! Max Factory: Kagamine Rin (Nuclear Fusion Version) is next!

Thanks for dropping by Namine! Yeah, she’s one pretty sexy figure :D the only downside of her was her eyes are a bit plain, but still, the quality of the paint job and is sculpt is outstanding and she’s a really nice figure to have :D

Amazing well done review and wonderful pictures.

    I have a question,

Is this worth picking up still?

I’m looking to add a test suit Asuka to my collection and there aren’t many around in this scale.

I’d prefer a standing figure, like the Max Factory one but the prices on that are way too much for me, but I can still find this one for a decent price.

So what would your choice be for a 1/6 or 1/7 scale Asuka in her test suit that can be had at a reasonable price, or do you know of any that will be coming in the future?

    Thanks.

Got something to say?
